Cinelândia / Centro

Cinelândia / Centro station opened in 1979 as one of the first five stops on the Rio Metro, on the site of the demolished Monroe Palace.

That palace had housed Brazil's Congress from 1914 to 1920 and the Senate from 1925 to 1960, before President Ernesto Geisel ordered its demolition in 1976, officially to make way for the station.

Since 2016 the station has connected to the VLT tram line, easing transfers toward Santos Dumont Airport and the Novo Rio bus terminal.

How to go

It is a walk of about 15 minutes from the studio.
