Largo da Carioca

Largo da Carioca is the busy Centro square often called the heart of downtown — workers, stalls, and the tram.

Wikipedia describes intense circulation of workers, vendors, and services. It is also the lower station of the Santa Teresa tram and the metro entrance for Carioca.

Come for the square itself, then climb to Santo Antônio or board the tram if it is running.

How to go

Walk toward Centro past Cinelândia, or follow the tram line; Largo da Carioca is the open square at the end of that walk.
