Museu do Amanhã
The Museum of Tomorrow is a science museum on Pier Mauá designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, opened December 17, 2015 with President Dilma Rousseff in attendance.
Built with support from the Roberto Marinho Foundation at a cost of roughly 230 million reais, it was conceived as an icon of the port district's redevelopment, exploring ideas about climate change, environmental degradation, and social collapse through a mostly digital exhibition.
In 2015 the museum received the sculpture Puffed Star II, a twenty-pointed, six-meter star by American artist Frank Stella, installed in the reflecting pool facing Guanabara Bay.
