Parque do Flamengo
Parque do Flamengo, or Aterro do Flamengo, is a waterfront park built on landfill in Guanabara Bay, opened October 17, 1965, and covering 1.2 million square meters.
It stretches from Santos Dumont Airport to the start of Botafogo beach in two connected sections. The Glória side holds the Museu de Arte Moderna, the WWII memorial, Marina da Glória, the Getúlio Vargas Memorial, and the Vivo Rio concert hall; the Flamengo side, separated by a small breakwater, has sports courts, the Museu Carmen Miranda, and Flamengo beach itself.
