Pista Cláudio Coutinho
The Pista Cláudio Coutinho is a 1.25-kilometer paved trail beneath Sugarloaf Mountain in Urca, named for the former Brazilian national football team coach.
Opened by the Brazilian Army in the late 1980s with distance markers every 50 meters, it circles Morro da Urca from Praia Vermelha and connects, via side trails, toward Pão de Açúcar itself. Native trees along the route shelter birds and small monkeys, and it is popular with runners, families, and tourists.
Bicycles and pets are not allowed, and children must be accompanied by an adult. The trail is open daily from 6:00 to 18:00.
