Praça Floriano Peixoto

Praça Floriano Peixoto is the official name of Cinelândia, the civic square honoring Brazil’s second president.

The popular name Cinelândia comes from the cinemas that lined the square. Around it stand the Municipal Theatre, the National Library, the Chamber, and the Odeon — the formal centre a walk from Lapa.
