About the neighborhood
Praça Tiradentes was a colonial civic square and later a theatre district. The Real Gabinete Português de Leitura opened its current reading room in the 1880s as a library for the Portuguese community.
SAARA is the cluster of wholesale and fabric streets around Rua da Alfândega, a daytime shopping ground that leads toward Campo de Santana and the rail station at Central do Brasil.
